Fantastic place you have captured here! I do agree with the above posters that there is some flaws visible in the foreground. I am not sure if it's over-sharpening or something that didn't go too well with PTGui? Like I said amazing place though.

I was going to say the same thing. The flowers on the left don't quite look right, but it's a nice scene.

Am curious how you got a nice blue sky on such a bright day, BenD. Could you share more info about the settings/filter?

Thanks for the comments everyone! It's interesting everybody focused on those flowers and plants haha. They do stand out in some particular way I agree, though I don't find it displeasing. I did run a very light filter and sharpener on it in PS. The plants are very detailed and intricate in themselves and I think I made that detail stand out a lot in post; perhapses slightly over-processed? Thanks! Critics are welcome : )

@frozenskyscraper
No physical filters, just the beauty of working with RAW and Photoshop, and a clear sky : )
I don't remember my exact settings but I imagine I was at f/16, a low iso like 100 and a fairly fast shutter speed.

Also this was originally 4 or 5 vertical shots put together in PTGui as a pano. I uploaded a duel monitor version but I guess IFL didn't like it : /

Well, in my personal opinion, this photograph is far from perfect, but I have to say I have never seen one quite like it. The image has qualities of both a photograph and a painting. I actually like it and will use it as a desktop :)

Just wanted to say I really love this photo. I had voted for it so I got to download it a few weeks ago from the loupe downloads section. I don't know if it's browser settings or what, but that one was a bit darker and more saturated; so, I didn't even notice the graininess.

It's just one of those shots that exudes California.

Everyone is saying the photo looks grainy yet at my end I see little to no grain. Very strange... maybe my monitor is lying to me or we have different definitions of grainy. Can somebody describe exactly what they mean by grainy? I want to make sure it's not a problem I'm not able to see.
Thanks!

Well, English isn't my native language so I'll try to explain it simply.

The grass looks like it's a photo that you have photographed again and put on the picture.

It somehow looks oversharpened but blurry at the same time.

the shot is great. regarding sharpness, maybe a bit smaller unsharp mask radius would work better, like 0.3-0.4 px? just ihmo..

Were you using a tripod when you took it?

@Naphtali14
Yes.

I just got a new monitor today and the picture looks a lot different. I was working off my cruddy old laptop screen instead of the nice screen I usually use at school.

Hello, I have a question. I noticed something today after setting this proto as my wallpaper. Look in the upper right corner, and then left a bit, just above the horizon. What is that line? If you look very careful you can see another one, smaller than the first. Is that dust on the lens?

...or something else?

The Hills have Eyes! Damn you for reminding me of that scary movie!

I'm suprised someone hasn't mentioned this alreayd, but If you look VERY closely on the 1920 size, in the middle of the horizon, you can see a city with buildings on the crest of the hills. I would hate to walk that distance with no water and barefoot.
