Shadow Airship

July 9th, 2010

A beautiful sunset during a festival in France. I took this picture without noticing the beautiful colors of the background clouds. It was surprising to find this amazing photo!!

Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi, 18-55mm zoom lens.

I know I'll be flamed for that, but it would have been my new desktop if the airship hadn't been there.

Nice, Euphytose. Took the words right out of my mouth. The airship is neat, but a silhouette just doesn't do it for me. The clouds are amazing, though.

There's no reason you should be flamed, Euphytose. Constructive criticism is much more useful than all of the fluff that gets posted.

Oh wow, this is amazing!

@Euphytose

It's not too hard to shop that blimp out. Just get Paint.NET and do a little editing :P

@bmndibbb:

This is, of course, not to start another exciting war with you, but I do want to point out that there is quite a difference between "criticism" and "constructive criticism." I have always enjoyed seeing the opinions of the IFL community regarding various submissions, but there is bound to be community frustration with comments that offer nothing more than complaints about what people don't like.

This is not to say that people aren't entitled to their own opinions...but complaining about a piece offers nothing to the community, and it certainly offers nothing to the artist. I don't want to speak for anyone else, but I welcome thoughts from other enthusiasts about how pieces can be improved upon or altered to become better presentations. I do not, however, think that it is appropriate to make comments like "I don't like it" or "too much graininess." What should happen, ideally, is a comment that offers a solution along with an initial complaint (and this certainly does take place from time to time).

I also agree with you that positive comments, while nice to hear, do not always center around specifics. In my ever-so-humble opinion, I feel that positive comments should remark about specifics of the piece in order to focus on unique elements that can be repeated in future submissions.

Personally ... I LOVE IT !

I instantly thought of Led Zeppelin's First album cover.

I had to reverse the photo as I have my Icons on the left.

Good Job !

I like it, but I also thought it would be better without the airship, so I took the courtesy to remove it. Here it is: http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/7898/02296shadowairship2560x.jpg

Furthermore it's a really nice picture, the colors of the sky are really amazing. :)

I think you guys should really stop editing people's submissions and reposting them

just a thought...

Thank you all for the comments! Probably, not everyone likes the airship, but without it, probably I would not have taken the photo. I had not seen the sky until I saw the airship.
Really, I like it anyway, I think that without the airship the picture has a beautiful sky, but nothing else (there are lots of beautiful skies on this site)! For me, the shadow makes the difference!
