Holy Smoke! This is freaking amazing! I am at loss of words. I always loved Yosemite. My wife is from California and she frequented this park in the past. I never been to this amazing place yet but it's on my list. I am very impressed with this flawless wallpaper. Keep up good work. Cheers.

What f-number did you use? It seems a little soft in some areas, did you shoot this with the lens wide open? Very good composition though :)

With all of the beautiful shots from around the world, it's good to be reminded of the beauty right here in the U.S. Thanks!

Nice watermark, host it somewhere it doesn't compress or add WM's

Not suprised this made it out of the loupe so quickly, that's quite some epic scenery there :D

Thank you for posting this.

I doubt whether anything will come up soon that will be able to displace this from my desktop...
Also liked sabern's version.

i wasn't gonna say anything about this one as it just felt pretty dull....and washed out to me, as if there was some grey cast over the whole thing. i mean nice scenery, but no added value in terms of photography. someone above mentioned composition...what composition? see what i mean?

but the sabern's version has really added the punch this picture needed to be just right. never underestimate PP.

sabern - would be great if you could adjust the largest widescreen version, as someone said, upload it to a site that doesn't pissmark the image.

I like this a lot more than sabern's version. That grey is well fitted and just makes it easier to watch. There are so many distractions in sabern's version...

@ cemimo... I totally agree with you "sabern's" version is deviation from the natural beauty to a more typical over-processed photoshoped version that is not natural to human eye. Unfortunately this is becoming a popular trend. I used to be in this category back in the day when I was starting up. A lot of newbies make a mistake by over saturating images and over processing and this behavior is totally unnecessary. I think it's an abomination to the mother nature. It's very nice to see from time to time natural beauty as it exists. Good job Nick for keeping this within reality. Cheers.

that is a very nice shot you have taken here. special note on the clouds..they are perfect. to me, it makes the photo all that much better. less distracting, more uniform.

Nick's version is the best looking imo. sabern's version makes it look too shady..it does not seem true to the eye. if you were actually standing in that point of view, which do you think you would observe?

3 years ago we have had a picture of this same place on this site:

Nevertheless, this one is taken from different angle and it's good!

@Gandee

i always loved that shot, the colors, the composition, the lighting, just amazing......it had everything this present shot doesn't. however the problem was the actually quality of the photograph i.e. it looked like it was taken with a compact, and unfortunately that failed it. too bad, cause it was a great shot.

Thanks for your comment guys.

I've something to tell you guys who are not so happy with my version:
The truth is that, there is nothing compared to human eyes. You won't be able to see the real nature even through the most expensive camera out there. Maybe some hundred years from now, people could invent some technology and photography equipments to act and capture exactly as human eyes. But for now, we should accept the truth.

The software, like photoshop and lightroom, and even HDR technology, they are all trying to fill the flaw of photography hardware we use these days. They try to make pictures look more like what we would be able to see with our own eyes. They help us to bring out most availabe details, lights, shadows and colors which of course the camera failed to capture correctly.

I dont like over-editing shots as well, but what I would call over-processing is when you edit your pictures in softwares like Topaz Adjust which completely destroy the soul of nature.

What I tried to do, was to make the picture look better and sharper. I didn't touch the saturation of image at all, I just increased the vibrance of whole view and adjust some of lights, shadows and levels to make the shot look like more to what we would see with our eyes if we were standing right there.

But of course none of pictures, either mine or Nick's version isn't showing the real nature. You can go Yosemite Meadows and experince the real nature and view for your own.

Cheers

btw, i uploaded to a better host (real size - no watermarks):

saberns got it. Both versions are good, but nothing compares to the real thing. I took this shot almost 2 weeks ago, and i am still amazed by the sheer beauty of the valley. Ill try and upload a couple more from this trip in the next couple weeks. So keep your eyes peeled in the loop.
