Is this any way to 'pack-a-derm?' You bethca! He or she is showing a lot a character, which you captured perfectly. A little night-cream might be in order to help the rough skin though. I've been to the Audubon zoo and enjoyed it very much.

I lowered the saturation just a bit, especially the dominant yellows. YVMV -- your vision may vary. I look forward to further submissions.

A splendide submission. The dark edge and shallow depth of field increases the dramatic look and feel of this image. I also do like the tones in this image.

I wish this image was just a bit sharper. The quality level of the canon400D is betrayed here, showing the noise as well. But it almost doesn't take away from the powerful subject.

Amazing Shot! I will never look at an elephant in quite the same way. I love the colors and how you framed this amazing animal. Part of the reason it is so powerful is because of the dark background and how it's bursting out of the frame head on. @stubulman I think the saturation is just right. Like I said before, the colors are great and I think you hit the "magic spot" with them in the post-processing.

I agree with Phillippe Clairo that the sharpness in the parts where the camera is focused could have been even more sharp. This is still a great shot of an elephant and a must have for any animal lover. Thanks Natalie. =)

Thank you all for your kind comments! I agree with the points on sharpness. I was actually using the 70-300 DO lens and it's pretty tricky when it's all the way out and you are doing hand held shots of moving subjects. I loved this photo and hoped the post processing would save it. It sort of reminded me of the old Disney nature shows from the 50's =)

Lovely shot and i really like the slight desaturated colours! I was wondering tho'. I have the same lens as you, the 70-300, and I always have issues with AF, it just won't focus correctly, always a little off. Have you got the same problem?

Thanks! Yeah there is always a bit of a halo effect when it's at 300
