That's gotta be using the HDR method, judging from the surreal quality and the blurred leaves. Awesome shot!

This is the new wallpaper on my laptop. There's just something about this picture...I absolutely LOVE it.

Yes timshead, it was created from three long exposures merged to HDR and tonemapped. Although really it almost wasn't necessary :)

woah~ I feel like I am high. Thats some tite shit there. Much nicer than my neighborhood. It looks like Italy or something. I need to get me an SLR camera so I can take some pictures of my "ghetto" neighborhood in Korea.

A fantastic, almost surreal, "alice-in-wonderland" type shot... well done... though I'm not thinking it's the type of backyard view I'd favour! but, like I said a great shot. [David, Adelaide, Australia]

New Jersey? I live in New Jersey, nothing in South Jersey looks like this. It looks like something from Europe.

when i saw this i had to stare at it for a moment because it reminded me of my childhood living in downtown jersey city. then, as i read the photo description -- it is jersey city!! haha....wow. thats definitely downtown. that has to be st. boniface. great shot and a great place to live.

This is absolutely amazing! Just bought a flatscreen and where looking for pictures in 1680x1050 and this is by far my favorite (looked through this entire site). I really hope you post more work here.
I wish the view from my window was this interesting.

I doubt this is Jersey or 'Joisey' depending on how you say it! The architecture in this photo appears to be European in nature! It's the beautiful backyard I've seen in a real long time. Very mesmerizing and it's just one of those 'relaxing' ambiences that the soul can relate to as being comforting.

Gerard, I assure you that it is, in fact, downtown Joisey City, three blocks from the Grove Street PATH station.

Yes Grove St. looks like this. I've shot in this area myself and that area is like a wonderland for Jesey City I tell ya. I like Near Journal Sq but it's nowhere as interesting as this shot. Great Work!

Guav,
Thanks. The pix brings back many memories of JC. It seems like I'm looking out the window of one of the apartments where I lived in JC back in the 50's, 60's. What makes the picture appealing to me is that the "view" could be of "any" back yard in the city. It is just soooo familiar. I can tell from the church in the backgound that it wasn't taken in the Heights.

This is an awesome pic.. I came across it last year, and finally get back to its source/owner... would like permission to use as "stock" for a photo-manip... on another note, for your interest Guav... this pic is so popular, it has been borrowed or "stolen" and placed on several other people's art gallery as if its their work. Just thought you'd like to know. Regards, David (Australia)

Hey I went to google earth, searched for "grove st. path" in New Jersey.. I searched around '3 blocks' radius and what I looked for was the church that you can see a block over beyond the backyard- I was able to find it and it is there!! So, I stand corrected and I most likely will take the wife to this street just to see it from the car. We'll make a day of it! I really believe this photo is very special. Thanks for sharing it and by the way I've had it now on my desktop for a long time. I never get bored with it.

addendum: Hey someone's got an air-conditioner in the window with the fire-escape.. lol.. that's not right, get that out of there! Speaking of air-conditioner's there are some very interesting placement's of a/c's. Look around, some are in the middle of nowhere as if someone just carved out a square in the wall and stuck an a/c in it. To the right there is a small window with a tiny lil a/c in it.. hmm that's cute! It goes to show that this neighborhood is not a celebrity one, but no money could ever pay for the kind of beauty that exists in this real-estate! Something about modesty that shines so beautiful! All this photo needs is a really good poem to complete it. May I?

When I saw this, I said to myself, "Whoa, that looks alot like..(sees description)" Nice, it is JC! lol. Yes, I can confirm that the shot is of Downtown Jersey City. Alot of the old architecture remains around here. And the real estate is booming, that even Donald Trump set up one of his buildings here. Sorry for drifting off into a blog, lol. Great shot!
