These icons are made specifically to replace the default icons in the third party AIM client Adium.

This third version of the set is entirely redrawn and includes a choice of Alert icons.

How to Install

To install the icons first drag the Online, and Offline icons into the "Dock Icons" folder which can be found here:

/Home/Library/Application Support/Adium/Custom Files/Dock Icons/

Then open the "Alert Icons" folder and choose the Alert Icon you like the best. Remove the number from its name and drag it also into the "Dock Icons" folder.

Then go the prefrences in Adium and select the Icons.

A replacement Away Graphic is also included. Installing this is more difficult. First find the Adium application and ctrl-click (right click) on its icon. A menu will pop up. Select, "Show Package Contents." Open the "Contents" folder and then open the "Resources" folder. Now find the file named "overlay_away.tiff" and ctrl-click on it and select "Duplicate." This makes a copy so you can go back to the old away graphic if you want to. Then drag the "overlay_away.tiff" file from the Adiumotion folder into the "Resources" folder and click replace. Restart Adium and when you are away instead of the sign the chat bubble will display "Away..."

These icons are Copyright © Jamie Poitra 2002. However, thanks to Pixel Jerk @ www.pixeljerk.com for the tutorial on making glassy looking icons. If you post these anywhere public. I wouldn't mind you giving credit where credit is due.

This is a new icon set made to kill the old lifeless bird that came with Adium. You could put those three icons: Adiumy_Online.icns, Adiumy_Offline.icns and Adiumy_Alert.icns into:

~/users/Library/Application Support/Adium/Custom Files/Dock Icons

Then launch Adium, sign on and open Preferences > Dock > Icon and select Adiumy Icon Set on the right of the window. Click 'Okay' and your Adium icon will be changed :)

If you want to change the "Away" icon, you can do this by open Adium's Content Package then go to Content/Resources and drag "overlay_away.tiff" into it. Click "Yes" to replace it.

If there's a good response from this initial set, I will most likely create more. If you'd like to see certain designs, I'd really appreciate the input.

Here's what I think. Sexual orientation is fundamental to the way that everyone comprehends and interacts. Being fewer in number, those of us who are not heterosexual must struggle to lead our lives on equal footing. Whatever lives we pursue, of this I am certain: acceptance and understanding do not develop unless we are visible.

These are my very visible icons. Colorful and sleek, they assert "We participate. We contribute. And yes, we have pride in who we are."

Note: These are not my only pride icons, so this set might not have what you seek. Do contact me if you are looking for other symbols in this style. I'm always glad to consider requests as long as they're civil!
