Washington DC Gull

February 19th, 2007

While randomly looking for things to shoot on the Virginia side of the Potomac, I came upon a gull sitting on this sign with the Washington Monument sitting in the background. I decided to have my girlfriend scare it so I could get some flight shots.

Too bad that doofy sign is creeping its way in at the bottom. Otherwise, a beautiful shot.

Eh, the sign isn't bad...it would be easy to photoshop it out though. Nice shot.

Stunning shot! Great focus on the bird, usually shots like this are slightly out of focus. Plus, the monument in the background adds a new layer to the symbolism of the shot. I'm very, very impressed.

Thanks for the comments. I've checked the site out and I'm still pretty new to photography. I'd feel better when I've had a chance to work out all the kinks, then I'll post something there. Just looking at some of the eagle shots made me feel like an amateur. :-)

I'd really like to see a still shot with the entire monument in the background. Frankly it seems as if scaring the bird ruined the picture.
