LOL @ all the comments about the pictures location. Anyhow, it's a great picture and I am using it for my desktop. I love the blue sky.

Bad composition--too much of the skies and not enough of the ground on the front. Getting closer to the ground would have created better effect.

Fair comment, but how about being a little more diplomatic about it?

Great Winter wallpaper... installed as I type. The great blue sky brings color to the winter landscape. Good contrast for the icons.

This is beautiful...it reminds me of the reason I liked skiing in the Colorado Rockies. It wasn't so much for the skiing as to be able to look out over mountain vistas. Regarding the composition, the blue sky is necessary to complement and contrast the mountains and the white snow. Sometimes a close-to-the-ground shot works best, but in this case you might actually wind up with too much foreground, mountain, or sky at the expense of the rest of the terrain. This pic works for me (and I have it on two PCs)!

BTW, I checked the latitude/longitude the photographer provided. This is in Austria, just a little SW of the village of Mittelberg and E of Schoppernau, approx. 15 km from the German border. As someone noted, this is south of the Allgäu region of Germany. Draw a line SW from München and another ESE from Lake Constanz, and the intersection will put you in the general area.

This pic is on my laptop now, it really calms one down and somehow the snow makes me feel comfortable. Georgeous!
