This is weird. It doesn't follow any of photography's composition rules, yet it is an incredibly attractive image. I like how the moss adds to the scene. It is just a fantastic picture.

Finally something nice on IL! I've been stuck with the sunset and the weird goat for about a week now!

KEEP THEM COMING!

There's something ancient and powerful about this photo. Sort of foreboding... I love it.

deuceswild... There is really nothing written in stone about composition. Some of the best and most famous pictures don't follow normal composition rules.

Actually, this follows the rule of 3rds pretty well. The root system/lower wall end about 1/3rd of the way up the image, the upper part of the wall on the right is about a 1/3rd of the way down, and then the downward part of the tree fills approximately the middle 3rd of the frame, leaving the image divided pretty well into 3 strong vertical segments. It also has great use of a unifying color scheme. Really good contrast between the bright upper portion and the dark, hidden interior. I would be very proud of this picture if I'd taken it.
But like mfaccone said, you can have a very strong image by doing everything completely "wrong". There was an article about just that in Pop Photo not too far back, as I recall.

Wow, really nice stuff. Any gamers out there? This reminds me of the original Metroid Prime (and parts of Super Metroid). :-) I say that as a huge compliment! Very creepy and other-worldly but very majestic.

Interesting. How much did DOW Chemical pay you for this? (The original appears to be featured in the latest "Human Element" series of ads.) I'm curious to know if this was claimed by the poster as his own, or if DOW used it without permission.

Transeau, do you have a specific link to prove plagiarism? The Ta Prohm is one of the most photographed temples in the world. It's quite possible that DOW just used a similar angle, so let's not condemn the submitter just yet. (By the way, I haven't seen the latest Human Element ad, but what an ironic series for such a company!)

Thing i love about all these wallpapers is the randomness, you come on each day to a different surprise and to be honest most of the time all wallpapers are amazing! I have my mac to change wallpapers every 15 mins, it's nice to see something new and interesting ;)

I could care less about this following or not following any rules of photography... This is just a really awesome pic! I set it as my background as soon as it was posted, and I haven't changed my background since. I just can't seem to bear to part with it. I catch myself staring at it all the time. Great job!
