Hunua Falls

February 15th, 2009

Hunua Falls is a small waterfall located in the Hunua Ranges about an hour's drive southeast of Auckland. I used 10-stop ND filter for this shot to capture the moving clouds and get the water silky.

Love this shot. Nice time lapse to soften the water and the clouds.

Chris, you know that I love your work. I think that the sunlit portion of the image, however, being so far up and to the left unbalances the image. There is certainly nothing wrong with having the waterfall in shadow, but different highlighting would really make this baby sing. I know we can't control the position of the sun, so in this case a little photo manipulation wouldn't hurt (provided it doesn't conflict with your religious beliefs). All in all it's still a great calling card for your beautiful country! Stu

Intresting job. But the result- I don't like. Because is LIKE a fully Photoshoped art. Maybe is the NEW art.... But I better stick with oldest tecniques I guess. )))

Keep going....

Great capture but I think I prefer your other shots that have great foreground interest aswell as a nice subject.

Your work never ceases to amaze me. I love everything about this shot. It's kinda like a dream scene because the clouds look the way they do. Everything about this shot is beautiful. Needless to say, I have added this to my collection!

Is this the waterfall that they jump from in the movie "the beach"? It looks identical?
