It looks like the end of the Earth. Way to go, Chris! (I don't know if they use the expression "way to go" in NZ, but it's a very positive one.)

you're right, BJBProductions. i'm dropping all the sunsets. but this one was so interesting i couldn't let it go. Besides the lack of symmetry i was looking for in those stones, the soft colors, the perfectly smooth water, and the exquisite clouds captured me.

Great soft pinks and blues. Chris, all your compositions use color very well. I am hesitant to like sunset photos because I like other types better, but this one combines color, textures and an unspoken beauty to me. Keep up the good work.

Great foreground interest and amazing soft colours. Sunsets are a bit overused here but I don't see the problem if they're as high quality as this submission.

It seems IFL has seen fit to bestowed upon you the coveted "Two In a Row" honor. Well deserved Chris. This is nice stuff, as always.

@trout: January 13-15th, 2009, Joel Antunes got three in a row and two in a row last November. Happens a lot. 360icon.com did it in December and Chris Gin did it before last November. It's not out of the ordinary for great photographers like Chris and Joel because they submit more than one great photo at a time.

Personally, I think their are very few things in nature that stops us humans to gaze only to say: Isn't that just beautiful! A sunset accomplish that for me each time. In fact, I was at Windansea beach in La Jolla and saw an amazing sunset. Keep them coming please! Thanks for sharing Chris. :D

Uh, thanks Paul, I guess. Did my remark seem all that serious? Or negative? Or noob-ish? Having perused the flickr accounts and personal sites of both Chris, Joel, and others, I'm aware (and have even stated in this forum) that sites like IFL could be sustained on their submissions alone.

Golf007sd, I have to say I believe exactly the opposite -- that our little planet, limited as it seems, has more beauty to offer than any single human can ever experience. There's just so much to see. Fortunately we can all get a few extra glimpses thanks to folks like Chris.

Again a very good picture. I got only on question: I do take pictures in the required sized and pixels and stuff, but I can't get them trough the hard jury. My question is; what expensive camera must I buy to get this. I got a simple digital camera, but I hear all of you guys about filters and stuff and I don't know what to do then. I am a total noob with photoshop, but I am also dying to get a wallpaper on this well respected site. ;-) So advice is welcome then! I live in Holland btw.

Haldir: I have the same problem. I have a Canon S2 and it doesn't shoot widescreen! (UGH) the picture quality is great, but I have to crop everything to the required aspect ratio...I've tried a few times and have not been excepted.

@Haldir, you don't need an expensive camera, but it helps to have a DSLR so you can use the appropriate lens and have more control over settings etc. Most of my pics here were taken with a Canon EOS 350D which is a budget DSLR (I now have a 40D). The most important things are good light, a good eye for composition, and some basic Photoshop (or similar) skills. I also find grad filters help control the light too.

@trout, sorry if I came off as the same way. You didn't seem noobish or negative at all. I don't know if I came off that way or not but I hope not. I just wasn't sure if you were aware that photographers like Chris get a couple in a row occasionally but I know realize you probably already knew this. Carry on ;)

@ brizkit: I stand corrected. You are quit right, our planet has many breath taking things for us to enjoy. I just have a bias towards photos that show the Sun setting. Even more so on that day I posted, due to my activity earlier that day. Thanks for the reminder. :D

I don't understand why some people say they have too many sunsets in their collection. Why comment at all, then? It's great to get another wonderful shot like this - such colour and detail. It transcends a lot of the sunsets on IFL. Just get rid of one that's not so beautiful and keep the creme de la creme... :-)

Hah, this is just where I live. Almost creepy to have it as a desktop! Nice though.
