A View of Paradise

This shot I took in Jan 2009 on the top of Koh Phi Phi island in Thailand at sunrise. That shot is over looking twin bay. This island was heavily damaged in the Tsunami of 2004. The shot was taken with my Canon EOS 5D DSLR and my Canon EF 17-40 F4 lens. The shot was then warmed up through a photoshop filter, levels were adjusted, saturated along with a bit of sharpening.

Sypherin, that is a great observation. I thought it looked familiar but couldn't place where I saw it before. This picture and this island are what most people see in their mind's eye as a tropical paradise or the perfect getaway spot.

What a wonderful escapist picture - Though a little grainy, the eye-popping colors makes up for it :)

Beautiful picture, beautiful island. Was there in April '05 shortly after the Tsunami. Nice to see the buildings have been re-erected along that beach.
To the fella who mentioned "why hasn't hollywood gone there" - they did. The movie "The Beach" was partly filmed at Maya Bay, which is on Koh Phi Phi Le, the smaller island in the left horizon of the pic.

Hrmm well it would have been a really nice shot however you sharpen it way to much in photoshop .. if you kept this image out of photoshop with the type of camera you say you have it would have been perfect..

I just came back from there and I already want to go back. Round trip from the states costs about 1000 if you book early. Bring 1000 with you and you'll only spend about 700 (if your loose with your money) and you will live like royalty. Ferry between phuket and phi phi is about 2 hours. Even though this pic is absolutely beautiful it barley captures the many wonders of this and surrounding islands. Oh and for the person who said Hollywood hasn't been there. Its my understanding that some of the James Bond films and the movie "The Beach" with Leonardo Dicaprio were filmed on these islands. Must go for a beautiful getaway. Don't forget to go snorkeling or scuba the water is warm and so many different kinds of fish it will put some of the best aquariums to shame!!!
