Forgotten Boat

March 16th, 2009

Shot taken at dusk in Bretagne, France. The tide was just coming in and the water was exceptionally flat. I used a ND1.8 filter in addition to get the silky effect. Canon 400D, f/16, ISO100, 5 second exposure; Hope you'll like it. Regards from Germany!

i really like this. those colors are astounding; they're so different together than the regular colors you see in a landscape. it looks so neglected, but so calm, and really beautiful. thanx. i love your posts. keep it up.

Was loving this until I saw the blotchy patch of color in the sky and reflected lightly in the water. Really wish that wasn't there because as *ifrogg* mentioned, the colors are very unique for a landscape. Such a shame.

Whoa. That's all I can think to say. I mean, this one really speaks for itself. It is just perfect. Thankfully, I don't know enough to be able to see the blotchy patch of color in the sky, so this is my 162nd wallpaper. :)

Maybe it's my shiny screen, or I need new specs, but I could not see the "blotchy patch" @trout speaks of. I love the way the boat comes right out of the shot, the muted, understated colours and the way the background is illuminated by the sun. Also the seaweed on the rope. The boat is almost saying "Please take me out".

@ Trout: I don't see the "blotchy patch of color in the sky". I have viewed on 4 different monitors(24" glossy, 2 non glossy & laptop) and can't seem to find this. BTW Love the pic, beautiful colors. Thanks for the awesome pic.

trout, I've got my monitors at home & work calibrated to specifically pic up "blotchy" areas caused by dust and such on sensors & lenses, and I can't find what you're talking about.

Very interesting photo.

This really is a textbook study. What a wonderful picture. It is beautiful as is, but there are so many ways to treat the image. I experimented by lowering the saturation and fiddling with the gamma. Also, you can crop this picture any number of ways and it still remains stunning. Great work.

The picture is good, no question, but I would rather see more of the sky and less of the green beach/shore. The water looks great.

In reference to the blotchiness I'm seeing - I can't figure it out. In fact, I did just get a new MacBook, but it's just a white MacBook that is newer than the one I had before. Yet still, this blotchiness I'm seeing in the sky isn't there on the iPhone IFL app. I don't know what's going on. It isn't there on other photos. Weird doings. Glad it looks good for the rest of you though.
