Remarking on the photo...not the subject matter...I really like the colors and style of this photo. Perhaps you should start a series with different laptops to appease both mac and pc users?

I always find it strange that Mac bashers are attracted to such an art-oriented website. Nobody who's objectively judged Jon Ive's industrial designs or used OS X for any extended amount of time could have such cognitive dissonance. Step away from the high school hatred and take another look at what you're attacking: a company utterly dedicated to integration, efficiency, form factor, and optimization. No wonder they're celebrated, I think what you all really hate is the stereotypical user, NOT the product. (P.S. This photo belongs on a billboard!)

Brizkit: Why do you find it strange that some people who like this website don't like Macs? You are suffering from the same generalisation that Macs are for artists which has caused the fanboyism that is what I hate about the Apple cult.

Macs do their job really well, but Windows based PCs can do the same thing (usually cheaper too).

BTW, Apple has gone way too far with the integration and simplicity of the latest iPod Shuffle. They have locked you into a certain headphone they have to approve of. Very lame. Vendor lock in is something Apple does really well, I don't really like it.

It's a beautiful wallpaper, but considering I don't own a MAC it would feel a little odd for me to have a picture of it on my desktop. Perhaps remove the apple logo in photoshop and leave it as an undefined laptop maybe? That way both PC and MAC users can enjoy this splendour of colours!

I love the pic. I agree with the billboard remark It just catches your eye. As for the mac bashers: chill. I own a mac and a pc and love them both. Both have the pluses and minuses. If you bash them(macs) you prob don't own one. They are awesome machines. If you don't like the price tag don't buy one. No regrets on dropping the cash to get mine.

Cripes people, comment on the photo but saying you would like the apple Photoshopped out is absurd. I may or may not like a particular image but I would NEVER expect an artist to change his/her work to suit MY taste in computers. Now, I'm a PC and I LOVE this image. This is a very creative and unique photo. The simplicity echos the Mac's own clean appearance. I can't wait to see more from you.

Please stop posting your opinions on Macs and PCs. By doing that, you are missing the whole point of why this wallpaper was submitted. Under the words "Post A Comment", it says, and I quite: "Use the form below to post a comment about this wallpaper. Please keep your comments on topic. Inappropriate or malicious comments may be removed or edited at the discretion of the webmaster. Each comment can be rated by other InterfaceLIFT members and each user receives an overall score based on the sum of the ratings of all their individual comments. Users that have earned extremely negative cumulative scores may be barred from posting comments or their postings may require approval before appearing on the site." When I see such comments, it really makes one wonder just how many have actually read this. There are members who are no longer here because they kept getting negative ratings on their comments.

Jeffrey Picard, I was most certainly not bashing MACs; I couldn't care-less if I used a MAC or a PC, as long as it works then I'm happy! I was simply suggesting that in order to broaden a user-base it would be advisable to remove the Apple logo. That way both parties can enjoy this wallpaper rather than it looking odd on a PC user's desktop. Do you see what I'm saying? If all artists refused to alter work based upon an audience's reception of it then how exactly would we ever advance and improve on the work in question? Critical responses should surely be acknoledged and encouraged when displaying your own work for public scrutiny.

Could I also quickly add Tim H, that you shouldn't consider the ratings as either negative or positive, but more of whether the reader agrees or disagrees with your comment. By no means does a disagreement with someone or something make it any less valid and nor should such an outlook procure negative connotations; it merely demonstrates that a particular reader may share your opinion or conversely oppose it.

Can't most people just photoshop the logo out themselves?

Not my style, but pretty creative. I like the lighting.

I must say I do think this is a beautiful photo! I think it would also be interesting to have a very soft/dim but directional white light beaming on the back of the laptop. This would allow the viewer to see that back edge of the laptop, but it would also add a cool prism effect where the white light being shone at the back of the LCD screen with , the apple logo is then transformed into a spectrum of colour emitted over the touchpad and keyboard!

A very unique perspective of how to capture color coming from a computer hardware. We sometimes forget how crucial our displays are and the amazing things they show us...literarily. Thanks for sharing :D

Back in March 2008 someone submitted a picture of an old chevy dashboard with the word "Chevrolet" emblazoned across it. Should the artist have removed it in deference to Ford aficionados? Do Christmas themed submissions offend non-christians? When I'm visiting friends who have a Sony flat panel TV, do I tell them I can't watch the game because my TV at home is a Samsung--no way!! By the way, Myles, what aftershave do you use?

stubulman, you totally misinterpreted my point. I stated that the apple logo would look silly as a desktop wallpaper for a PC user and in order for PC users to have this image on their desktops without it looking weird would be to remove the Apple logo (the rival to PCs) You are taking this logic out of context and twisting it into something it isn't. Applying such logic in comparison to religion and motoring is simply absurd, and adds nothing to your argument. This debate concerns the hypocrisy in having a wallpaper for a PC that is of its rival - the Mac. Allow me to elaborate; Macs and PCs are similar but seperate electronic devices, and having a wallpaper of a Mac on a PC desktop would look rather out of place, because the PC is not a Mac, and vice versa. The argument you raised is that having a Chevolet wallpaper is in the same league... which it isn't. This is because a Chevrolet is a car, and desktop wallpapers are for computers. Having a picture of a Chevrolet on your computer is not like having a picture of an Apple laptop on your computer. I'm finding it difficult to explain this any simpler and I only hope you understand what I'm driving at in my explanation. Please re-read my previous comment again and then see what you wrote in response... your argument does not match up to what I have previously stated and it appears as though you are making a bit of a mountain out of a mole hill. Let's leave it at that shall we?

I have voted for both Republican and Democratic candidates even though they are rivals and I am registered to only one of the two parties. I didn't feel the least bit silly. I have both Mac and PC's on which I wouldn't mind an image bearing a Mac or a PC logo. It wouldn't make me feel the least bit silly. In fact, on my iMac I run Windows via Boot Camp. It doesn't make me feel silly at all. I recommend both Mac and PC's to my computer clients depending upon their needs. I don't think I'm obtuse. If you feel awkward displaying an art shot of a mac laptop as a wallpaper, so be it. Good night an God bless.

Myles, an Apple logo on the desktop of a Dell computer looks no more silly than a Sony logo on the desktop of a Toshiba machine.

It seems to me that your idea of "silliness" stems from the ridiculous notion that a Mac is somehow categorically different from a PC. In fact, they are anatomically identical - if you throw out the case and look only at the electronics, you will not be able to tell an Apple computer apart from a Dell. They use the same Intel CPUs, the same nVidia/ATI graphics cards, the same Hitachi HDDs and the same RAM parts. The days of the PowerPC Macs are over and Apple *is* now in the business of manufacturing PCs. Apple's PCs simply have an extra firmware that allows Mac OS X to be installed.

I have to agree with stubulman that you cannot ask the artist to strip off the identity of the computer to suit your whims. If it were a Sony logo on the back, would you care?

Michael Do and Stubulman, you both make excellent points, and I admire your arguments which are both equally valid in your responses to my post. The issue here boils down to personal taste. I honestly love this wallpaper; I believe the lighting is excellent considering it is emitted solely from the laptop itself - very unique. I'm not questioning the quality of work here, but more of personal taste when it comes to the Apple Logo. It seems what I stated has been blown way out of proportion for such a minor remark! I did not intend it to fuel such a massive debate over something so trivial. I do hope you both don't take my opinions the wrong way, as I mean absolutely no disrespect in what I say. Purely for critique purposes, I would suggest a removal of the logo, but this does not constitute that the author SHOULD do that, but such constructive feedback is surely better than someone merely stating "amazing", since that sort of response does not help the author progress in their work. I'm a filmmaker myself, and if people were to just tell me my films are "amazing" then that wouldn't do much but light my ego. I would much prefer to have someone scold my work and provide valid and informative reasoning as to why they do not like it so that I may improve on my next films. That's how I see criticism as being; but perhaps we all have different definitions of the word. For me the logo will seem silly on my PC, but that surely does not constitute my opinion as being invalid does it? I hope people are open-minded enough to at least take my opinion and recognise it rather than immediately negate it. Anyway, I really do not wish to discuss this any further since it is so silly to talk about such a minor dispute! Thanks for the enjoyable debate though :)

Re the issue of the brand, I feel the same way as Myles. It does not matter that the brand is Apple per se; it could be Sony, Windoze or Brittany Spears. Brands just don't feel right to *me* on a desktop.

I disagree re the removal of the logo however. It is one of the only parts of the image sharply in focus and gives it shape and life to all mac fans for whom this is perfect. Good shot.

In the 1440x900 version of the wallpaper viewed on a 27inch High Definition Screen I found that the White light reflected onto what seems to me as the left speaker and lower left portion of the laptop is slightly pixelated. I love the shot but when I see static in a photo I cannot place on my desktop. Other than that it is very artistic.
