Scarf Girl and New Friend

March 27th, 2009

This beautiful girl, with her extreme makeup and her sumptuous lips, appears to have made a new friend. I paint-rolled the background onto the paper with vivid, artist's quality acrylic paint. I then inked the form and applied the last layer of acrylic paint.

Wow. This is quite beautiful. And tremendously well done. I mean, seriously, this is an incredible piece. Granted it's not going to please everybody as a wallpaper (I myself am on the fence about that), nevertheless this is a genuine work of art. Kudos.

It's a bit too bright for me to use as a wallpaper, but I agree with the above posts, it's a great piece of art.

I don't have much knowledge of fine art and their artists, but I have seen far worse paintings hanging in galleries. Picaso,
Not my type for a wallpaper, but its a great piece of art.
Keep it up.

Oh Leah, I would compare your work to some of the masters. I look at your work, and I am astounded. Your style and technique are amazing. I think your more moody and pensive faces are among the best. Constructive request: I would also like to see additional detail in some of your works as well as a broader color palette.

I agree with the previous posts. Nice art, no so great for a wallpaper though.

This is fantastic! Even though it's not my style of art, I can see how creative this is and would make a great wallpaper. It's simple, clean, bold, and colourful, with room to place your icons.

I have to disagree with some comments, i think this is cool wallpaper. its probably dificult for many of you to see the icons on your desktop given these bright colors...But i framed the art so it doesn't take up the entire screen, that way i can still see my icons in the black area of my desktop.

Quality art, but really can't say it works well as wallpaper.

Well not my cup of tea, but I do appreciate the creativity of the piece, I see from you site you have your own unique perspective on things, so keep on doing your own thing.

I`m not a fan of this style of "Art", it's personal taste. Who's to say this may well be a masterpiece in some peoples eyes and for its style its probably really good but I still don't like it much.

This is a very intriguing work of art.
-Scarf girl is clearly a hyperbole of the real life stereotype of beauty, while her new friend shows she is in fact not a "cool" or stereotypically "pretty" girl.
-I absolutely love the facial expression - distasteful and curious at the same time. Yet the artist's use of the title "new friend" shows she may be less pretentious than shown in the work.
-Her "sumptuous" lips show she has a natural beauty and allure. Yet she wears extreme make-up. Its a fantastic contrast, and makes the viewer ask "why?".
