Vineyard in Winter

September 3rd, 2009

Taken during a sunset in Winter. I was about to get into the car and pack the gear away when I turned around and looked at this magnificent sunset through a vineyard.

DOF is really narrow. Not much of a sunset... but ok its orange sky.
This was voted?

Yeah, I LOVE the yellow, but the concept just doesn't work. That being said, no doubt it was stunning to be there.

I agree - this is, to all intents and purposes, a blank orange screen with some indeterminate scratchy black lines across it. Surely some mistake? Ok, so it could just about qualify as an 'abstract' but even then, there's not much going on in the way of engagement with the viewer... Personally, I don't think it's even a particularly nice shade of orange... Ho hum...

After this contributor's previous two wallpapers (I have the lovely daffodil in my download collection already), this is a disappointment.

Not dissing the OP, but this is why I stopped voting on wallpapers. None of the good stuff ever makes it here. Theres awesome wallpapers in The Loupe.

I actually like this. It looks CG but it isn't. Goes great with the theme called "AmunRaa Recording Studios", downloadable from this site.

Interesting shot! It reminds me of sheet music on old parchment.

Maybe one has to be involved with winegrowing or at least live in an area with lots of winegrowers. This picture looks familiar to me and immediately made me feel comfortable. And it reminded me, that I haven't visited my friend -- a winegrower -- for quite some time.

InterfaceLIFT Physics, Part 1:

If, within 24h after posting, the number of comments exceeds the number of "add to favorites", then the wallpaper is bad.

Works every time! :-D

By the way... Though I don't really like this one, "Joe" is still one of my all-time favorites. Quite calming and, dare I say, sophisticated. :-)

Royce, he explains what it is in the description underneath the title. It's a vineyard during the winter.

I just don't understand how this shot made it into the system after looking at the past 1900 approved. While the natural color is truly amazing the subject matter is not noticed. I can't make out a vineyard at all. Everything is out of focus. Sorry, but I had to actually sign up for an account to comment on this one. After looking at other pictures to vote on I don't see how this made it in. This one really makes the case for the question of why they really went with a voting system instead of pre-screening what they place on the site.

Patrick, I'm not sure that theory has anything to do with physics, but I generally agree with the formula. I can't recall an exception.

Avatarpalin, this is a mildly interesting idea with a cool color scheme. It just feels like it could have been something more. I don't think it deserves a place on IFL's front page, although I do like your other work.

Avatarpalin, I loved the colors on your last submission, although it was out of focus. But this one is clearly misplaced on IFL. Sorry...

Very nice. Its not misplaced, BlackGary. I liked it.

Somehow reminds me of a dream I had...

That must have been one bad dream, you've had!

I agree with most who say this is not a great photograph. Although it works pretty well as a wallpaper. Considering the fact the IFL is a wallpaper, not a photography site, I do not believe it is misplaced at all on IFL.

I blame global warming for this sunset.
