Rocky Sunset
By Adamschroder
September 9th, 2009
Walking down the beach in Carlsbad, California, I saw these beautiful rocks and thought that the sunset just looked great above them. Shot on a Nikon D40. 1/60 @ f/6.3.

Oh look, another sunset! Sorry to be snarky as I actually think this is a nice photo. Might be better without the surfers in the background though. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for all the comments guys
@austen, yes it is the standard D40 lens.
@Jeffrey Picard Thanks for the input, I agree that the surfers kinda take away from it.

Darn it, another gorgeous one that doesn't fit my 2560 res monitor. :oS
The only slight criticism I have is the pebbles being out of focus - it might be worth playing with your aperture settings in future to try and get that sort of scene more uniformly in focus if possible. The pebbles deserve the clarity given the pattern they make on the picture.

One of my new favorites. The surfers don't really take away from it IMO. Also, I disagree with Tony. I believe the shallow DOF works great for this pic. Thanks for the great submission.

I really enjoyed this. The flaw in the focus makes the image more interesting, which makes me think it was deliberate. Brilliant work.

Another beach sunset, maybe. But a little more original this time. I Like de POV and the rocks. Well done, I voted for this

i love the lack of dimension cues so those stones seem enormous to me, which makes my head spin a bit! wave looks like an apocalyptic tsunami in this context. [warning: imagination required]
great shot!!
