Meow

This is a shot of one of three white tigers living at my local zoo here in Singapore. They were in the news in November 2008 after they killed a deranged man who jumped into their enclosure. This is a picture of one of the two females. I've visited several times in the past few weeks and she is usually lounging around whenever I stop by-- letting the male pace around and keep watch for intruders. This time, however, she caught sight of me, started growling, and made me quite happy that there was a moat separating us.
Monopod. Canon EOS 450D, EF100-400mm f4.5-5.6L USM at f5.6, 1/500, ISO 800. Processed using Camera Raw.

Love it! It's the blue of the eyes that really does it for me. The blue eyes/white fur/green background work perfectly together!

Thanks so much for your kind comments. I'm routinely blown away by the quality of the wallpapers on this site, and I'm very much on the photography learning curve, so I feel pretty lucky today. The first time I saw this shot on my camera's LCD, I knew it was different from the 500 or so other white tiger photos I've taken. Thanks again!

Looking at the thumbnail I wasn't sure if this one was for me, however, after looking at the full size image I've got to say that this is quite nice. I love the subtle blue eyes in the almost monochromatic image. As others have said, finally a nice NON-sunset image. Thanks for sharing.

Another lovely animal portrait. So much more interesting, for me, than the standard issue sunset good as most of them are.
Thanks.
OT: I don't think the Loupe is much use. You can't see enough of the images to work out if they are worthy wallpapers or not.

She definitely looks grumpy. Besides the subtle color scheme and other excellent photographic elements, her expression sets this shot apart from many more prosaic wild animal photos. You feel as if you are interacting with the tiger. There is a definite feeling of menace on her face.

Very nice I like that feeling it gives of being stared at. Can't wait to visit the zoo with our new camera, hopefully I will get some shots half as nice as this one!

My desktop is generally a montage of fractals and a few landscapes. I have never (and I mean not even once) used an unedited animal shot as my desktop, but was intrigued and as soon as I viewed the full-size image, I was blown away. This is far and away the best animal shot I've seen in my time on IFL. She will continue to stare at me through my screen for a long time now. THANK YOU!

I think that the link for the Dual Monitor 2560*1024 is broken. Could you re-upload it please, I really love your picture!
