Errm its crystal clear and detailed as far as the photograph goes... but as wallpaper?! I think no!

It is not something I would use as my wallpaper, but it is definitely a very nice picture with great clarity. For people who like wallpapers like this, they won't be disappointed.

What trout said :P
The picture itself is fantastic -- it'll add some flavor to the screensaver roll of photos, but as a wallpaper it doesn't work too well.

Light leaves me with a weird feeling, it seems uneven and directional, as if done with a direct flash. I would say it's not my favourite: it is not a bad picture, but not as a wallpaper IMHO.

If the consensus seems to be that its a good picture yet not a good wallpaper, why was it voted on?
just wondering...

Yeah...hum. Great picture, but no way would I make this my wallpaper.
Are people getting paid off to make their wallpaper get on the list? How could a picture like this ever get democratically nominated?

What puzzles me is all the absolutely beautiful desktops in The Loupe (which, very unfortunately, we cannot download!) that are just completely ignored, while wallpapers like this somehow manage to get to the top...!?

Maybe people are sick of the 100.000 Beach/Sky/HDR Pictures you can find on Interfacelift.
This picture is something different. I also think some people do not like this as a wallpaper because it is not a "nice & cute" animal. But anyway, nobody is forced to use this picture as a wallpaper.

It may be a wallpaper website, but no one is forced to use the pictures posted here as their desktop backgrounds, as Mr. DiHa pointed out. Everyone has a choice in the matter :P
@DiHa1977
I believe this picture is unique in the fact that not many people realize the beauty in ferocious carnivorous animals and/or take pictures of them. I think you captured that beauty quite well in this photograph. I personally wouldn't use it as a wallpaper, (because I'm more of a sunset/sunrise guy with all due respect) but I find it very refreshing to see more variety on the website than HDR landscapes, Beaches, Sky, et cetara. :)
I'll put it bluntly to those who hate it and have deemed it necessary to over-extenuate their point. Give the guy a break and keep your vile comments to yourselves.

"Vile comments?" I'd like you to point out just which comments were "vile." Most people have gone out of their way to point out that this is a nice picture. A great wallpaper? No. You need to put your personal issues aside and join the real world. The simple fact is that this picture is a nice snapshot. I've got a ton of nice snapshots too. I just don't submit them to InterFacelift. I love variety too, however, the variety needs to be of a higher caliber than this.

To be honest, I really like it. It's well done and unique. The green/grey color scheme goes very well together. This isn't your typical run-of-the-mill alligator photo.
