Stand Alone

February 5th, 2010

Sadly, the other day I was passing by this tree, with the idea of taking a photo of it with an Autumn feeling, but actually that tree was broken, so it's over for it. Sad, sad news for me.

Canon EOS 40D, 17-40 L.

Nice shot, calm and relaxing! reading your name i think this was taken in puszta, did it? anyway you didn't say if you post-processed the image..the sky has a strange green colour..

Interesting picture - a good photo and the composition works well as a wallpaper. I like the relatively monotonal quality to it: it means I can retint the picture if I wish without too much danger of colour clashes. All in all a very effective and useful submission.

Nice photo! I like wallpapers without a lot of unnecessary details.

Please, send me a real photo(1680x1050) to my e-mail,without photoshop effects : nikitakrasovsky@gmail.com. If you can... thank you.

This is a great shot! Nice and sharp, and the lighting is excellent. As Tel Me Later said, the way you've processed the picture, post-post-processing is facilitated should the same colors get monotonous over time.

Thanks so much for sharing, I love it! :D

I am curious what was cloned out as I see evidence of it on the grass. I do like the end result though.

Very nice study indeed. I took the liberty of removing some, but not all, of the color cast. (I'm color cast sensitive!) I would love to see more of your work.

Perfect shot! Nice and calm. Really a 'zen-moment' every time I see my desktop. Definitely continue like that and you will get far!

Nice! This is kind of old-school IFL here, back to the elements of a good desktop. Really interesting feel with the green cast. The busted tree is creepy, like something is approaching from the right side, yet peaceful. More, please.

This kinda looks like a comp.. there is alot of blur between the grass and the sky..

Brizkit, this is way off-topic, but do you remember: "Morbius, something is approaching from the South West?"

Interesting how you were able to capture it's existence prior to it's death. Kind of makes you appreciate photography more than you should. Lovely photo, though!

For the scores of people who demonstrated their complete lack of interest in my post above :) my quote is taken from the seminal 1956 American motion picture "Forbidden Planet." the quote was intoned by "Robbie the Robot" when he sensed a presence approaching Dr. Morbius' residence. The movie was a fanciful adaptation of William Shakespeare's "The Tempest."

Very, very nice wallpaper! I liked the motive very much! To what extend did you change the actual picture? Did you replace the sky or added the grass? Or did you just remove some objects on the horizon to make the picture look more clean?

Well, sorry for my late response.

I don't know where to start.

#1
First of all, this is a photograph, i just cloned out some plastic pets, while I live in Romania, it's a tradition to throw everything on the ground, no civilization here...

#2
About the sky. Nothing is added or replaced. The colors are changed slightly, and the contrast is boosted.

#3
The Post Processing took me a few days, I wasn't satisfied with the colors, I made a lot of halos at the branches of the tree, so I had to work hard on that.

Thank you guys for all the great feedback!

Great shot. I personally think there a bit to much green in it though. So maby u can photoshop a blue sky with clouds above it, so u have the same feeling as the famous MS wallpapers, only than meaningful with the tree.

I am in love with this picture. I'm sort of running short of words to explain my feelings on seeing this wallpaper. everything is just perfect.
may this tree rest in peace.
