I think it's very unique. The colors are very unnatural, but I think that is part of what makes this really neat. Good work!

I'm sick of the landscapes on IFL, but this one really caught my attention. I love the colors and the shape the clouds make in the sky

I think it is a neat shot. It fits the mood that I have been in lately. Great job!

Beautiful! Absolutely beautiful!

The only complaint I have is that the shot is just *ever* so slightly blurred on the coast. It's nothing really, just a minor quibble :P

Big apologies for this but..
I am staggered that this has been selected.
Your corn field was interesting and showed BIG potential, but this is weak. No amount of colour manipulation or exposure time can save this..IMO

For those that are sick of landscape images on IFL ... no one is forcing you to come here. To me it seems that this is one of the most "democratic" websites as far as member's freedom goes. Images are voted by members why such a negativity? Majority rules.

Actually I find this image interesting. I can't say whether the colors are realistic or not but I have shot images similar at dusk with natural very strong and saturated colors so I am not the one to judge this but I do see some possibly unnatural purple fringing in the clouds which is very easy to fix in either lightroom or PS. I do like the circular white area in the sky... I can actually see this as a decent wallpaper on computer.

Thanks for the feedback so far.
The purple colours in the sky are not a result of postprocessing. They're natural. They just have been strengthened as I was increasing contrast.

Chuck this is exactly why I was careful to judge this image in terms of the color. I already knew it was possible to get the surreal colors in a capture and it happened to me number of times before. It is funny when someone jumps to a quick conclusion and makes themselves look like a fool.

"The purple colours in the sky are not a result of postprocessing"
..this is what he said.
The colour manipulation is on the water and beach area. True ?
Personally, I am not here to be part of a majority. What I like or dislike shouldn't bother anyone else.

I knew that one day this would happen. Clyde, I agree!

Colours are nice in theory but it's too unnatural for my taste. Nice effort though :)

@Clyde: The colours on the water are just a reflection of the sky, so no manipulation here. The colours on the rocks are a result of a bit unprecise whitebalance.

Chuck ... have you used some sort of a filter on your lens? A lot of times filters could create color casts and saturated images. One thing I wonder about those that complain whether your monitors are calibrated? If your monitor is not properly calibrated you will be seeing some strange results sporadically especially with strong images such as this. You can only benefit if you are using color profile aware browser such as the Firefox or Safari.

No filter andn yes, I am using firefox. But I've read about that colour-profile-thing, especially when it comes to Samsung monitors like I have since a few months. But I have had no problems so far.

I like it. I see just a bit of spookiness that makes me search for a sea monster ready to explode through the surface of the water (or my ex-wife to walk onto the beach ala Creature of the Black Lagoon.) If this was crisp and clear it would have been "just another lanscape" submission.

Chuck, I really love this picture. The colors are great and the cloud formation just tops it off.

@clyde: Really? This may sound blunt and no offense, but by looking at your submissions this picture is better than anything you or I have done (so far...).
