Stunning capture. Bit too much noise for my taste but I really really really like this one! Thanks for sharing, meckimac.

Normally noise detracts in my opinion, but here it actually works to the better, I think. Many of the great photos that make it through are heavily processed to where, while they look amazing, they lose their "realness" in a small but tangible way. The graininess left over in this image almost matches what I see with my natural vision so that I feel as if I'm standing on the pier looking through my own eyes as opposed to a camera lens. There's a solid place for that sort of thing I suspect. Thanks for the new wallpaper.

There's very definite compression artifacts in the sky and water here. While it's a lovely picture, and fully worth downloading (and, indeed, I have already done so) I wonder if there's something in the methods used by InterfaceLIFT to process the image that introduces banding/artifacts where it wasn't evident on the version submitted by the contributor - we've seen degradation before and the contributor has pointed viewers to a link containing the original where no banding is evident.

If the contributor is able to do the same for this image, it would certainly help identify if there's a problem.

On the other hand, it could be down to the fact that I use a hideously expensive high-quality monitor. Maybe common-or-garden consumer screens you can get at Best Buy don't show up the artifacts?

Anyways, it's a gorgeous picture, and I really want to go there. Maybe if I win the lottery I'll buy a villa there!

Lovely picture but I can't accept the noise, it seems to show up really badly in the shadows on the water ...

WOW! So nice to see this one make it in so fast! I just voted for this about an hour ago. Everything is perfect here with this image. Keep it up buddy and post some more. I need to post something the minute I find some time.

I actually just uploaded my first wallpaper to this site. It's a little different. Just keep an eye on it. I know some of you guys were waiting for me to upload something. I just wished I had more time.

BTW... noise is not that obvious in this image and seems to be fine for me I just downloaded this image and I love it. I can remove some noise if I want to with noiseninja but this grain looks interesting in a way for me here.

I wouldn't expect ANY noise from a Canon 5D Mark II at ISO 100. So either this has been over edited or too heavily compressed resulting in those artefacts/noise in the bottom left. Nice photo but I wouldn't use it as a desktop.

nice picture, made it my desktop BG, but (if you want some critique) there is quite a bit of noise in the foreground of the water that could be easily removed

Very nice. I'm not bothered about the noise that most have mentioned, but my eyes are drawn straight to the shaken boat to the left. Thats all the critique I have! Keep them coming :)

Beautiful photo, reminds me of a sailing trip I took when in my young. The noise doesn't bother me, it's very faint
