For me the focal point of the image, the far bank, is in shadow and close to dead center. I took the liberty of bringing out a bit of shadow detail in that area to give it less "weight."

Even with that said, this is another example of your splendid photographic technique and judgement.

Wow, Chris. Show us something awful next time just to prove that you are a mortal.

Another great addition to your portfolio.

Every time I think you can't come up with a better picture, you prove me wrong. Thanks Chris!

Ditto guys... Chris is a legend! I saw this on Flickr few days ago and knew that it would move through the loupe rapidly. Keep up fantastic work!

Ok... now that I ran this wonderful wallpaper through my CS5 ... it does look a bit different but it looks even more phenomenal. Don't get me wrong folks it was fantastic to start with but a bit too dark for my taste. I guess filters made it a bit too dark. I ran simple curve adjustments and I am stunned with results. It did have a slight color shift or color cast which is typical with most captures that are shot through the filters and even without. I end up adjusting almost all wallpapers here to my taste but usually just minor technical corrections such as color cast or highlight / shadow not balanced. I do realize that many individuals may not know these simple technical steps of post production since this is not a strictly pro photographer community and that's perfectly fine. I just wanted to share some of this info. Popular Photography magazine recently have been covering this topic extensively. I love their publications because they are full of valuable info for amatures and pros alike. I learned a lot from that magazine in the past.

Thanks everyone.

Igor would you mind sharing your PSD file so I can see the adjustments you mentioned?

No problem Chris... Where do you want me to send it? Ahh... crap I saved it as a jpg. I can re-create it pretty quick though. Thanks for sharing! I need to see what I can upload. Do you have any suggestions? I think you mentioned some in the past. Cheers Chris!

Chris, youve got an awesome eye for this. I just checked out your website and if you can handle the pain, could you submit all of those sth island pics? They're wicked.
And a message to all you non kiwis out there, come over and see our country, chris has not enhanced the beauty in his pictures rather harnessed the beauty that is already here.
Respect..

I like all of your pictures and, of course, all of them would make a nice wallpaper. Though I really would like to see the CoronetPeak_0457 as a wallpaper.

There's no doubt about it; Chris is a national treasure.

adamuchan - I've previously submitted a few other South Island pics that haven't made it past the Loupe. Dunno if you can still vote for them via my Profile, probably too late.

~July~ - thanks for the suggestion, I'm not sure if that pic is great wallpaper material, but I'll submit it in the near future.

Chris, I visited your web site and your collection is, well, the usual superlatives seem entirely inadequate to describe your work. It's hard to believe you only started taking pictures three years ago. As for which ones I'd like to see here, it would be easier to say which ones I don't want to see. Clearly, though, you cannot afford to give all your work away for free. Since the selection process on the loupe is more than a bit problematic, you might want to consider selling screen size versions of your images (not suitable for print) as wallpapers for a nominal fee. Print versions, of course, would be substantially more expensive.

Your web site is beautiful as well. What tools did you use to design and build it? The only issue I have with the site is that the picture titles are too small and almost impossible to read, perhaps just a bit too subtle. And they don't include any information about the subject in the pictures.

In any case, thank you for all the excellent photos you've already made available to us here. Need I say keep up the good work?

WhiteDog, thanks for the feedback!

All my photos are available for purchase, just contact me and we can agree on a suitable fee depending on the number and resolution required.

The site itself was just a flash template that I purchased on the net and it allows you to plug in your own photos. There are heaps out there. The disadvantage is I can't really customise it as I'm not fluent in Flash :( If any Flash experts out there want to volunteer some time in exchange for some pics, let me know :)

The colors here are incredible. Thanks for the upload!
It reminds me of Lord of the Rings.

I'm currently using it as my new background!
