Little Caribbean Planet
By paulz
May 19th, 2010
Stereographic projection made by merging several photos taken with a fisheye lens. A nice composition from the Caribbean.
Canon EOS 450D, Falcon 8mm fisheye lens, Hugin, PTGUI Pro, Adobe Photoshop CS4.

how does a plane so big land on a planet so small?

i really like the rotating clouds effect, but the planet does not really do it for me. Nice effort though

I really love this kind of compositions! I saw a lot of them on the web and each of them is great..I think the plane is the icing on the cake..keep these works coming!

Oh wow, there are submissions like "Mirror Lake" or "Under Harbour Bridge" in the loupe and this one gets voted on the front page?
No offense, the effect is very nice. I remember the other wallpaper "My home planet" which uses the same effect. The problem here is the motive of the planet. When I hear Caribbean I want to see palms, jungle and turquoise water but no street with people on it.

It's very nice and the composition of the fisheye effects is excellent.
On a purely personal basis I would have preferred the 'planet' to occupy a little more of the screen though, and I second the suggestion about palms and jungle and a little less road (from a distance it looks a bit like a walnut!). If it's possible to composite something along those lines from your photos then I'd certainly be interested in seeing it.

Not sure what everyone else is complaining about, but I think it's an awesome wallpaper. Also, I second the St. Maarten question. :)

It's St Maarten. Off to the 9 o clock you have the sunset beach bar, off to 3 o clock you have Maho, with the Sonesta Maho hotel. Using your pic as my wallpaper! Nice one!
