Yes, keep the over-HDR'd purple/pink ocean scenes coming too. I only count ten of them in your "portfolio".

Great composition and gorgeous reflections, Chris! Love the detail! I see it's getting cold down there as supposed to us northern hemispherers! You're indeed lucky to be surrounded by so many beautiful spots!

@bmndibbd: You couldn't come up with a wittier line than that?

I knew this would be here soon the moment I saw it and voted. This is a high quality wallpaper with fantastic vista. Yes! keep these coming Chris.

@ bmndibbd ... I am just speechless with your ignorant comment. I can tell that you are so clueless when it comes to photography yet you are attempting to insult something that you don't even know or understand. I can tell you one thing for sure that Chris is not an HDR fanatic and nowhere it is stated that this is an HDR or any other images in his portfolio. Most of his work is captured with ND Grad filters! Do some homework before you open your mouth. You are just making yourself look very immature and it's obvious to everyone else here. If you don't have anything intelligent to say don't even open your mouth you are just hurting yourself with your ignorance. lol

The colours and lighting are sublime.
I think that this scene could possibly have looked even better without the foreground though.
What a great place to photograph.

Lovely shot, the water's so still, looks like glass almost.

Its a Quality wallpaper but for some reason it doesn't work for me there's a slightly morbid depressing feel about it that doesn't go well with the mood I`m in, as I said quality wallpaper that deserves to be here and I'm sure many people like it lots ...

Wow-- this is an amazing shot. I also thought yesterday's on the Norwegian coast was stunning as well.

I say this as someone who is thoroughly in favor of the idea of having non-landscape photos posted on this site!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sometimes think some of the praise in the comments goes a bit over the top. It sometimes seems like every picture is "stunning" and "amazing". However, this time those words apply.

Also on the negative sniping by "bmndibbd" -- what's up with that?

I think that we probably have a bunch of adolescents that have joined up as contributors just to insult people. They'll eventually get bored and drift away, I hope.

I think the foreground serves a useful purpose: it provides context, helps frame the picture and gives it scale and some needed texture in useful contrast with the mirror surface of the water. It is indeed hard to find adjectives that have not been overused, but I think dan237's choice - sublime - does the job, particularly as regards the colors and hues of the image.

Now this is the Chris Gin gold I've been waiting for.

Worth the wait!

Also, I have to agree with the guy who made the Immature comment about your HDR purple shots, but you're a pro so you can pull it off.

Aw shucks, photos like this make me miss my home in NZ. Good to see that the South Island still makes the odd appearance among those Auckland shots :) Keep them coming as always Chris...
