Bathing Tiger

August 3rd, 2010

I took this shot yesterday at the zoo in Wuppertal, Germany. As there were only a few people, I could climb around the open-air enclosure a bit to look for the best shooting position. Although colour and focus are ok, it's the intensity of the eyes I like most about the picture.

Canon EOS 7D, Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS USM telephoto zoom lens, Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.

Amazing animal! The water also looks great, seems frozen in time!

Not my thing for a wallpaper, but very well done indeed.

You're lucky you didn't get mauled by the tiger. Getting in the open-air enclosure is VERY dangerous.

Excellent shot. I'm not normally a big fan of animal desktops, but this one manages to pass :D

I assume that when you were still in the public area of the open-air enclosure...

Very nice picture. Going on my desktop.

Awesome shot of a magnificent animal. I really like this - voted for it in the Loupe.

Ooh, my first picture at InterfaceLIFT that made it through the Loupe. I've made several attempts in the past, and silly as it may sound: now I'm very happy and a bit proud, too. :)

Thank you!
Jens

PS: Of course I was still in the public area--just a litte above the others and closer to the animal... ;)

A beautiful study. Remember it's just a pussycat.

This is one of the most detailed and absolutely stunning photos of a tiger I have ever seen! Everything about this is just perfect, especially how the animal takes over the frame and extends past the edges. Makes for an extraordinary composition! I also love how you took the shot right as he was looking at you. Great timing! I actually have this on my PS3 in the living room right now, so many thanks! =)

If anyone thinks this can be improved at all they are just wishful thinkers, mean spirited and/or unsatisfiable perfectionists. :P
