This looks spectacular. Amazing job dewey2999! I think the black and white apart from the beak and legs suit the photo well

The only thing is the dark corners. Were they purposely done?

Not a bad image overall. Technically good but I think the subject leaves something to be desired.

I really think the dramatic treatment of the image would lend itself well to a photo of a bird of prey, or some other type of bird or waterfowl that is more majestic, powerful or simply pretty. Your treatment of the seagull is nicely done, it's just that seagulls are kind of like the rats of the avian world. They hang around garbage dumps and crap everywhere. Thanks for sharing though.

Very cool. Always enjoy well-done animal shots. I really like the effect you got here. The darkened corners give an interesting focused feel. Saving the color for the only beak in focus was a nice touch.

@Jeff: Nonsense! I love seagulls. Every bird craps everywhere if there are enough of them. (That said, I also like individual mice and rats, so we might have to agree to disagree here.)

Might have been nice to see a stripped-down version of this shot without the other seagulls, but I don't see any flaws worth whining about as far as what you've actually captured.

Nice work.

Like this photo very much. Lovely detail. I agree with brizkit. I like gulls. They are clever, fascinating and mate for life. I also like mice and rats (in small numbers!). Actually, Jeff, certain creatures may hang around garbage dumps but let's not forget that it was human beings who created those garbage dumps in the first place and continue to make them bigger. So, in essence, it is the humans who are crapping everywhere on this planet. The droppings of creatures is nothing in comparison to what humans are doing to planet Earth.

I like it just as it is. I don't agree that a bird of prey would look better necessarily. I think the gulls are interesting in their own right.
