Mt Nicholas - Queenstown

September 28th, 2010

I took this shot at Mount Nicholas Station, on Lake Wakatipu in New Zealand. Beautiful spot that is accessible by road, but requires some 4WD-ing. Luckily I got to fly into this location for work. It was a beautiful day but that made it difficult to capture a good shot as it was very bright.

Canon EOS 500D, Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS. Shot at 18mm, f/11, 1/125 sec.

Excellent photo. I like the colours & detail. Makes you feel like your actually standing there.

Nothing to change, I think it's perfect already - great shot!

This is a kit lens photo?

You are a God.

If you had an expensive lens, this would have been much better, but you really, no I mean REALLY made it happen with what you had, I'm quite flabbergasted.

I love this picture. One of the best scenery pictures on Interface LIFT. Definitely will put this as my wallpaper.

Hmmmmm... I cant think of anything to improve. Its good just the way it is!

Thanks for the comments! yeah I wish it was a bit sharper but with the kit lens that was the best I could do. However, just last week I got a new lens for my birthday - A tamron 17-50mm f2.8 VC and I love it. Its soo much sharper and quicker lens. Hopefully I'll be able to submit some photos using it in coming weeks.

Cheers for the feedback, I appreciate it!

I wish I had my new lens back when I took this shot!

i have been to lake wakatipu several times, and i can tell this is a long long way away from queenstown itself. only the very corners of the town centre are visible.

great shot, pity you didnt have the tamron. that is an absolutely brilliant set of glasses with the sharpness and will have made the shot so much sharper.

good composition like what youve shown in this photo is harder to achieve as a photographer than any possible sharp lens tho. well done
