Lake Coleridge

October 14th, 2010

Early morning at a farm near Lake Coleridge, Canterbury, New Zealand. As I drove by the colours were almost too perfect for me to pass up, and I'm glad I stopped after a long morning at the lake.

Canon EOS 30D, Tamron SP 17-50mm F/2.8, Adobe Photoshop CS4 to process.

A very nice landscape, the light is well balanced.

I wish you had leveled the horizon, and I also find it over sharpened.

I agree with Philippe. The content and colors, lighting and whatnot are just gorgeous. And I've got some things I don't like about it coming below, but overall this is by far nice enough to be on this site and into my wallpaper collection.

Philippe mentioned the horizon. I don't know if the horizon could be adjusted without making everything else look off. It seems to me that this photo is perfectly level, only the ground is not. And then some parts certainly seem too sharpened, while others seem blurred in fact. Overall, still a very nice shot.

Gorgeous photo! Reminds me a lot of an area in Wyoming I've been to.

I'm not sure what that is on the far left, but I'd either reposition so it wasn't in the shot or bring a larger portion into view.

The colors, the landscape are very good and refreshing. It could be a very good backdrop, was it not for the problems with the post-production that make it unusable.

Too much unsharp mask or some post-processing exaggerations cause some artifacts and make the picture disturbing. Note even some heavy purple fringe (see on the sloping mountain on the far left just above the lake. Possibly with a lighter touch in post-processing the picture can be ok.
