WOW. This image is INCREDIBLY well-shot and edited. I love the darkening of the edges, the clarity and detail of the animals, and the dark tone of the image! Way to go!

Hmm.... I'll have to get back to you on that... (if I can think of anything).

Perfect wallpaper for my Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat desktop :)

I am not a pro to comment on how the wallpaper could be improved. Somehow the dark edges of the wallpaper draw my attention. Would have great if they had been bright. But still works for me :)

Very cute capture! Nicely framed, and I like the vignetting. Works great as both a wallpaper and a worthy piece of animal photography.

In fact, this is the best meerkat submission in over two years...

The darkened edges are what makes this a great desktop wallpaper. Icons can be easily seen and found and no searching through a distraction. After all, this is a wallpaper website so submissions should at least be functional.

There is not much room for improvement other than I hope the meerkats were fed well for being such posers.

Its amazing! Can you tell me how you lit this? or edited after? This is an awesome shot!

I don't think it could be improved. Maybe it is a bit too centered?

I love these little critters and this is a very nice capture with lots of details. I love a good animal shot, because you're capturing a moment in time that won't ever exist again in quite the same way. You can even tell the meerkat on the right has been doing some digging around in the dirt with his nose. :P Your post-processing effects work great with this photo, especially the vignetting. And brizkit thanks for the link I looked at that meerkat submission as well and they are both outstanding for what they are. The one you gave a link to is more of a natural capture, while this one is more of an artistic execution of the subject matter. It's almost as if the meerkats here handed bEn a camera and said, "Excuse me sir, will you take a picture of me and my buddies while we pose on this tree branch?" heheh...

I disagree with the idea that the image may be TOO centered. I mean I AM a big fan of a-symmetrical imagery, but there ARE times when symmetry just works better for the composition. These meerkats are posing on a sloped branch as well, so even if they are centered it's still a-symmetrical. In fact, this composition might have greater balance if they were even MORE in the center since it's a little heavy on the bottom right. However this doesn't detract from the superb quality of this piece, and it looks great on my 1920x1080 desktop. Thanks bEn! =) (Sorry I typed so much this is only my second comment. I just made this account and I will try to keep it shorter in the future.)
