Aspen Peaks
By atomic80
February 7th, 2011
Flying into Aspen at dusk, the peaks were lit by the fading rays of the sunset. The colors lit up the peaks with orange painted across.
Canon PowerShot S90.

Well, it has mountains in it. :-) And of course the dramatic sunset lighting. And I love to take pictures out of plane windows myself. Especially over mountains.
Naturally, being a mountain junkie, I'm trying to figure out which mountains I'm looking at ... both having visited the area and having access to Google Earth. If I could figure out what that lone peak is with the "little brother" up in the top right (ish) part of the shot, I might be able to do it. You were coming in from the West. But where is Aspen in relation to this shot? (scratch, scratch)
Point and shoot out a plane window? I don't think you could do better.

What I said above, plus, after looking at it a little more, I decided it could be improved with a little post-processing. Again, absolutely stunning shot. Good eye to catch that.
I ran it through ACDSee's "shadow/highlight" exposure adjustment and turned "brighten" down to zero and dragged "darken" up to about 50 to really make it contrasty and ... ok, I hate to use the word, but ... "pop". Makes it a little more dramatic.

Thank you everyone...I had my DSLR with me and should have pulled that out but we were flying in towards Aspen airport so I didn't have time to pull it out. Moments like this don't last forever. I do wish it could have been sharper but I can't complain about how it did turn out. I do wish I could give details on exactly where it was but I have no idea where we were flying over when I took that shot.

If the shot would be sharper i could use it for my dual system.
