You can taste the salt in that green water, the contrast is a tad too high losing some detail, too much vignetting and that's one ugly bird lol. I don't understand why so many perfect shots aren't making it to the main page. Sorry but this site is no longer the best wallpaper site on the web.

I have to agree with Gemini. Though a good photo it's not wallpaper material. And it has been far too long since I've come across any that I consider worthy of a wallpaper. This photo is too depressing really. It's not smooth to the eye. It's busy and gray and green. This site is "supposed" to be a source for wallpapers on Desktops. Not a collage of photos by the average amateur to professional photographers to "upload and store" every single thing they do. Think about the desktop. Think about cleanliness. Think about simplicity. Not too much a distraction yet pretty is what I look for. Smooth, soft and calm. Nothing depressing. Bright, colorful but a feeling of openess and life. Whether it be rendered in some program or a real life photo I can name at least 4 different top sites opposed to this that far out weigh anything here. However once in a while, there are one or two I cross paths with I enjoy and so alas, I continue to visit when I can.
Good job over all. Try to catch the more natural appearance of things. Don't rely on using software to change what Nature has to offer all it's own. There are plenty of opportunities to do this and I think too many people have distanced themselves from such a cause because they like to "play" on their computers than with their natural eye.

The greens in the water are cool, and he's a good looking bird.
I have to agree with the others. This image has no place here. I take seagull shots all the time, but I'd never think of submitting them. They don't really give you anything special, and in terms of technicality here, you lose a lot of detail in the post-processing.

I'm in agreement with Gemini; that IS an ugly bird! Decent picture though. I actually don't mind the "green-ness" that you added. It gives it an interesting feel.
Also agreeing with Gemini, it is strange to me that this gets enough votes while many others, that I would consider to be better photos, don't make it out of the loupe. I would disagree, however, with steven. Wallpapers don't have to be focused on "cleanliness" or "simplicity". While some may prefer this, it's not a requirement to be deemed "a wallpaper". I liken the desktop as a display of art on a wall. We all have different tastes in art and there is no right or wrong. Personally, I leave my desktop icon-less and the taskbar on autohide. So, in my case, I don't mind a picture with a little going on in it. Sunrise and sunsets over water are undeniably beautiful, but not everyone wants that in front of them 8 hours a day, five days a week. Variety is the spice of life, right?

As far as processing is concerned: I removed the green cast and lowered the saturation just a hair.
