Someone said the last shot looked surreal but that one was just frosting for this mystic cake. I love how you didn't point the camera right at the sun as well. Good use of 2/3 and the colors are very deep and go from extremes without any banding. This also works very good on a mac who's icons are on the right by default. (I guess windows can do that too. :P) Good job Zaitz!

although ive had this one for quite some time now via the Loupe download section, it is nice to see it finally got voted in.
When observing this photo, yes it is very surreal and also very tranquil and the nice soft colors make it pleasing to look at.
With such a calm water and a horizon that looks as though it goes on forever, it is a superior shot to be left to the viewers imagination.

Instant desktop'd. Brilliant! I've been waiting for a new wallpaper to put up, and this is the one. I love the feeling of serenity. The blue/violet works perfectly with the subdued orange sky.
Some of the sky in the left side of the image looks grainy, but a lot of that might be clouds or something. But it doesn't take away from the shot. Thanks

Something from my nick of the woods, love it! Whereabouts on the North Shore was this?
If I was there right now :( Maybe a tad grainy, but I love the surreal look

Thank you for the comments. There is a bit of grain. The exposure was 436 seconds and, unfortunately, I did not have my 4x5 camera then. So the digital sensor heated up a bit and added some noise. On my crappy monitor I get banding if I remove all the noise as well due to the subtle gradients.
The photo was taken, if I remember right, at the Cutface Creek rest area/beach just south of Grand Marais.
