The Golden Gate George
June 29th, 2011
This is a shot of the George Washington Bridge From Fort Lee, NJ at sunset. The sunset in New Jersey on this day was beautiful and so intensely red it made the George look like the Golden Gate. Obviously, it's not the Golden Gate, but it's the next best thing! :-) Danny
Canon EOS 60D, Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM, Adobe Photoshop CS5.

This is super sharp and that sunset really did make this bridge look beautiful that day. The composition is top-notch as well. How long was the exposure? Do you use smart sharpen in Photoshop? I love your results however you get them though.. Thanks Danny!

Thanks Daddy! The Exposure was .6 of a second. I do use smart sharpen in CS5. Not sure why really. It's just what I've used from the beginning and it has always worked for me. Thanks for the positive comments.
If I could change one thing, it would be to reduce the noise a bit more. It was really hazy that day and haze adds to the noise dramatically. I didn't want to lose the crispness of the image so I didn't want to go any farther with the NR. Maybe I should have gone a bit farther with it?

I love the subject most! I like architecture shots, and it's refreshing to see a bridge that isn't the Golden Gate. I spent many hours on that bridge when I was going back and forth from Boston to DC when I was at school in Maryland. I love that I have this image to remind me of my times!
I don't really have anything to critique here. Great shot!

I actually shot this from a hiking trail that is north side of the bridge entrance on the Fort Lee side. You park on River Road in Fort Lee and walk to the spot. It's about a 10 minute walk.
There's a cliff there with a clearing for viewing the bridge and the city. It's a really nice little spot.
