The Reign of the Stars
By Dominic Kamp
June 30th, 2011
I created this composition in Photoshop CS5. I'm out of mountain photographs, so I'll have to take some new ones when I move to Switzerland in August. Swiss Alps night sky HDR, here I come!
Nikon D700, Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED, Adobe Photoshop CS5.

As soon as I saw this one I knew it was yours! Awesome composition! Little blown out in the contrast from the sun but still looks fantastic and I don't think you minded at all. I know you spend lots of times working on and staring at your art before you finally say to yourself, "Ok, it's done." And I'm always happy with the results. Thanks for all your contributions Dominic! =)

I have had this as my desktop picture since February: http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper/details/2503/alpine_night_sky.html
You should so do some more night sky Milky Way photos like this one and the one above. I love them! And they are the best desktop pictures I've ever had. Keep up the stellar work!

Excellent work Dominic. I look forward to when you have refreshed your mountain stock with alpine ones.
I think this image could be improved by making a lot more of them. Thanks. :) ;)

Thank you for your supporting comments! I don't know if you guys have heard of NeoHDR, but I'm trying to get into it once I'm in Switzerland! Go to Flickr and look for the user "dmkdmkdmk". He invented NeoHDR and I think his images are simply stunning!
Anyways, glad you like it. Have a nice July! See you in August!

WOW! You are right! dmkdmkdmk's stuff is beautiful! Thanks for telling me about that Dom! (Great, now I have even MORE pictures to download for my slideshows.. haha)
BTW, the tops of the trees on the right have a misty haze over them. It doesn't ruin it, and I like to think of it as just mist, but I'm guessing it's probably the overlapping of layers. :P

Wow the dmkdmkdmk's images are incredibles, thanks for the share! I'm not familiar with Flickr at all, is there any way to download his pictures in high quality for wallpaper or is it restricted?
As for your image, it's very nice as usual!

The stars right next to the snowy mountain amazing picture.
Enough said...It's really good. The angle from where the picture is taken is great!

I love practically everything about this image, and envy your skill. Excellent angle, absolutely perfect capture of the milky way (even with clouds present)
The only downside to the image is how blown out the highlights are on the horizon. Given the long exposure I'm sure even HDR couldn't save it, but it manages to distract me even from as beautiful scenery as this.
