Sunset in the Big City
July 5th, 2011
This shot of New York City was taken right before sunset from Weehawken, New Jersey. The sky was so awesome on this night, I decided to make it just as much a main part of the shot as the city itself. Hope you like it! -Danny.
Canon EOS 60D, Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM, Adobe Photoshop CS5.

Sick photo! looks great. Great timing... on all your photos. you must really hit the clock right. You've got great dynamic light in all your shots. Keep doing what your doing!!
You could.. Maybe.. either crop or expand your shot so you dont have the crane in the corner..

Great photo, danny. You do some excellent work. You seem to catch your shots at the perfect time.
I don't mind the crane, actually. You captured New York as New York is. No need to make it any different. With a shot like this, in my opinion, if it's there, then leave it.

Awesome! I love New York shots and this one works particularly well as a wallpaper at that. I don't mind the crane either. The composition is so great to me otherwise anyway so.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I really enjoying taking these shot and watching them come to life on iMac monitor. I find the process so rewarding and then to have people enjoy my photographs makes it that much better.
One thing I would change is to do some lens correction in CS5. The edge of the picture is a bit distorted. I just learned to do that after I submitted this photo. It has made a big difference in my shot after this one. I've only been at this for 1 year so I learn more every day!
I like the crane in the shot. As someone said earlier, it's part of what makes NYC NYC.
:-)
Thanks,
Danny

Great photo, I love the colour contrast between the buildings and the sky. As I live in Australia, this is a unique shot of of NYC for me and one that will be in my favourites for sometime. How's the 60D ? hope to purchase one in the near future!
Crane doesn't bother me, and it looks like a conversation piece anyway. Keep up the good work!

Love it! One of the best shots of New York I've ever seen! Sharp, great lighting, intriguing composition and it captures such a wide view without looking too distorted. I see what you mean though about the distortion on the right. Easy fix though. And the crane doesn't bother me either. Excellent job again Danny! =)

Wow, this is one of the nicest images of NYC I've seen. I've gone through all of the photos you've posted on this site, and I think you do an AMAZING job at keeping the subject very clean, very sharp. It comes out so natural and it's like I'm really there!
