I totally agree with Coolerman. Well...I agree with him if he said that this was a pretty cool shot. We've all seen plenty of waterdrop pictures (which I do still enjoy), but you've succeeded at expanding on that a little. It's nice to see that you actually changed the color of the milk and didn't just add color in photoshop later. The image is very sharp and it reminds me a lot of glass art - like maybe a blown glass bowl or something. Very nice, Richard.
I get why you used milk for your base liquid. It's more viscous than water and it's white which will provide greater contrast, but I'm just curious how a similar shot would look in water. While I understand that most living things drink water, it also has a quality about it that doesn't always make me think "food". Close up shots of food, for whatever reason, make me uncomfortable and I associate milk as such. This is obviously just me thinking out loud (really, Brad, you're not saying anything), but I wonder if anyone else feels the same way. All that being said, this is a really great shot and I commend you on a job well done.

I agree with others this is a belle/pretty cool/gorgeous shot. However, @ Brad - close up shots of food do not make me feel uncomfortable. I wonder why they make you feel like that. I don't really like most close ups of food though, but unless there's mold or it is tube steak I look at it and critic it in my mind like any other piece. :P
Anyways, amazing detail on the splash and perfect use of coloring in the milk. It reminds me of the "Helix Nebula" located in Aquarius or the "Spotted Lake" in Columbia or a heat map of some kind. Also the green and whiter area reminds me of an eyeball with the pupil popping out from compression in the vacuum of space. Or you know what it kinda reminds me of a drop of water in some colored milk. Great work Richard, and I'm glad to see you getting such an original shot without using Vue. I do like some of your renderings too. =)
