Near Glacier Point...

August 1st, 2011

Just few steps away from the tourist-laden Glacier Point, a more natural setting for the incredible Half Dome and Yosemite High Country can be found.

The dual-screen version is strongly recommended as the original photograph is very wide.

Canon EOS 5D classic, Carl Zeiss Planar T* 50mm f/1.7 (C/Y).

Wow I don't know if I like this one more or less than your other one of Half Dome. They are both so gorgeous! Next time I go to Yosemite, I must hike to Glacier Point. Was this shot in the evening, or in the morning? Because I have to see this for my own eyes. Last time I was there was 7 years ago now. The scale you captured here is huge. This is another one of those times I wish I had a dual screen setup. I'm also glad you left in the waterfall on the right. Everything is really sharp and great colors without over saturating.

At first I thought maybe you should have tilted the camera up a bit, so that tree stump is out of the shot, but then I noticed for the time you were there, if you had done that you wouldn't see the other tree trunks go from shadow to sun near their base. Although I still may play with cropping different versions of the largest one. After I do this is going straight to my desktop for awhile just like the last one did. Other than that, maybe a few more clouds would have made this flawless, but it is still just stunning the way it is. :P Thanks for both shots of an amazing place v1rtu0so! =)

Great view, great colors, clarity, crisp and pure - perfect.

Could you by any chance post a link to the original? IFL provides a wide scala of differently cropped images for all kinds of devices, but they all seem to be missing one spot or another..
