Red Sand

August 22nd, 2011

Taken early morning on the road of the Sossusvlei Park, Namibia. The contrast between the sky and the dunes is spectacular, adding to this, a little tree standing up at the edge of the desert.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II with the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM shot at at f/5, 1/250 second. Adjustments in Adobe Lightroom 3 and Adobe Photoshop CS5.5.

I don't know why this didn't get any comments yet so here it goes... This is a very hostile looking piece and makes me thirsty and makes my feet hurt thinking about walking across all those rocks. The tree is out of place but in a good way and works with the picture as a whole. I personally love the sharpness and that MOUNTAIN so much I had to make a version of this using the largest size, that crops the mountain pretty much just to the right of the tree and just above the many rocks on the ground. I like the original framing too so now I have two versions. Once again Philippe you show your talent and I love the colors you capture along with the sharpness and overall quality of almost every single submission from you! "Navajo Land" is phenomenal as is many others by you. So thanks for this and the rest of your splendid work! I hope you never stop submitting here because my screen gets hungry for shots from you =)
