Fiery Storm

September 19th, 2011

A storm suitable for the active island of Hawaii. Shot just before twilight before the Sun peaked out below the clouds to duck below the horizon.

I love the color of the water! repeat of all I really wanted to say about this picture: "I love the color of the water!" in order to meet minimum commenting standards

I think less people comment on pictures now because there are minimums to what you have to say and that every comment needs to be approved by an admin

Thank you very much. I will take your tactic... Thank you very much! :)

I agree, I often find it hard to fill the space and get sick of the error messages so I give up.

Given that the sky is overcast, the colour of the sea must be entirely false. It just looks wrong. otherwise it is a nice picture.

Go easy on the post-processing instead of going over the top with it, as so many do who submit to this site. Looks much better converted to grey-scale.

The water was unprocessed other than a +25 vibrance (not saturation) to the entire image. That's not enough to make anything unrealistic, especially on a dull RAW image. I did add a GND to the sky, but the foreground was relatively unchanged.

There were clouds in the distance, but none above us at the time of this shot.

Thanks for the complements, and input is always welcome (whether it be right or wrong).

I'll be honest, this is just okay for me. The water had to be touched up, no water is that blue in the world unless you go to the keys and even at this water, little too much editing in my opinion.

I think it could actually be a little less fuzzy, especially in the foreground.

This is just great! Where was this taken? It looks familiar to me and I was wondering if I had stayed there before (South Kona).

It's interesting but a little warped/distorted especially on the edges. It's not as sharp as I would have liked either and the colors are a little too vibrant. I do like the rocks and how clean that water looks. Maybe you could re-visit that exact spot and do a few more takes someday. :P
