Ferie

September 29th, 2011

This is the Milford Highway in New Zealand on a cold morning. It was taken while travelling out of Fiordland. After many days of perfect whether, when we finished exploring the natural attractions, the biggest snow storm in 50 years hit the southern island. This was the day before, and the first weather we had that was not clear blue skies. We drove into this area with a long straight road in the middle of a flat glacial valley, and I had to stop immediately. The lighting, the mist, the frost, everything worked out for a really nice photo.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM, CPL, Adobe Lightroom.

I love the texture of the frost, the sky, and the imperfect road. So many road pictures are too uniform to be continually interesting upon further inspection, but this one holds subtle surprises. Thank you for taking the time to upload this. :)
