Newfoundland Stress

November 14th, 2011

Took this last week from the ferry on my way to Newfoundland island. It was windy and really cold but I managed to get a steady shot from deck 10. Intense moment.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Sigma 20mm f/1.8 EX DG, Adobe Photoshop.

Beautiful shot, I didn't read the description at first and made it my wallpaper because I thought it reminded me of some mean Atlantic waves off the island, thanks for visiting the island :)

Beautiful and calming. This would have gone into my rotation if it weren't for...

... the ship on the horizon. Many people wouldn't notice at first glance, but once I know it's there, it bugs me. Looks like it would be easy to edit out.

@fjawodfc, I kept the ship on purpose. Thought it added something to the composition :)

Wow this is really great! By far your best shot on IFL in my opinion. I think with or without the ship it's still gorgeous. I feel, to me the ship gives a sense of the scale and scope of what the image really captures. Love your framing and the water looks great, especially on the lower-right. I might even crop that area and have it as an alternative. The only minor flaw if you call it that, is that the black level or darks, could have been just like -1 darker, also in my opinion of course. As this depends on your screen and calibration. On most laptops it would actually probably look better the way it is. Also, just the right amount og vignetting. Thank you very much alexstrohl! =)
