Nature's Fury

January 19th, 2012

Taken August 2011 during a stormy evening while camping near Lake Mohave on the Nevada side. It was very difficult to get this shot (focusing, timing)! Just before the Sun was completely set, I got this one in... The orange light coming from the right side is from Las Vegas. These colors were the real deal, amazing moment.

Canon EOS Rebel T1i, Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II. Exposed for 12 seconds at 18mm, f/9, ISO 800. Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3, tripod, shutter release cable.

The Best photo I have seen in a Long time! Great Job! This shows that you don't need the best equipment to get the best shot.
Keep up the Good work!

It's a nice scene, but frankly, this site is about wallpaper and images.

The colors are very flat and banded, almost as if the image was forced to 256 colors. The middle area looks more like 16 colors. Am I the only one seeing this?

I'm not sure what you are talking about. The middle area was almost pitch black until the lighting struck.. of course there is going to be less colors with such harsh white light.. also the rest of the scene has rain, low lighting, moving water and depth.. which blends colors together into less colors. I'd like to see an image by you so you can show me what you mean.
