Silent storm

October 24th, 2012

From my flat in Barcelona I noticed some flashes outside. After investigating I realised there was a giant storm over the Mediterranean. It was far enough away to be completely silent. A perfect photo opportunity.

The photo was saturated yellow because of the light pollution from the street lights below so I changed the temperature to what it really looked like.

Canon EOS Rebel T2i, Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS.

Photo Settings: 55mm, f/4, 119 seconds, ISO 100.

Map: 41.2861, 3.3931

I have just noticed the plane with blinking strobes in the top right making a sharp turn away from the storm... A fantastic detail!

Can I ask what the exposure settings were for the photo? Seems just about right for getting the lightning.

DjRag$, I don't have it in front of me now but from memory it was a 45 second exposure. I was just very lucky for there to be so much lightning during that time!
