Serene Sunset
By Robert Bynum
February 4th, 2014
A nice sunset at Cape Arago on the Oregon Coast on the evening of February 2nd, 2014.
I had to dodge a few incoming waves at this mid-tide time. My wife stands watch to yell at me when a big incoming one makes me grab the tripod and run. Finally captured the reflections I wanted.
Adobe Lightroom 5.3, Adobe Photoshop Elements 11, Lee 0.9 ND Hard Grad filter.
Canon EOS 5D Mark III, Canon EF 17-40mm f/4.0L USM.
Photo Settings: 17mm, f/11, 2 seconds, ISO 50.

Nice exposure. Saturation is high. Contrast is the highlight.
I enjoy this shot, yet it looks nearly identical to 100 other wallpapers I've seen of a rocky shore. Nothing about this stands apart.

Thanks khena.
@threexi, it's mainly vibrance that was adjusted in Lightroom but yes, there was some increase in saturation slightly. I did like the contrast as well. I am searching for ways to make standout pictures of the rocky shore near my home. This one I tried to mirror the shape of the cloud with the shape of the tide pool that reflects that cloud. It took many attempts running down closer to the water but having to grab and run from a wave. Even being three feet deep in the water at this location can drag you out and off the ledge where Great Whites are. Anyway, I hope to continue to improve.

I certainly do not agree with threexi. Of course seascape pictures look similar, that's unavoidable. However, the colors in this picture makes it unique in my opinion. Love the combination of the warm saturated sky and reflection together with the azure blue water. You can never get enough of these types of photos if you ask me.
