Sonic Boom!!
By FlorinC
January 26th, 2010
An FA/18 Super Hornet displaying a vapor cone during a sonic boom at the Jones Beach Airshow in Long Island, New York. Taken in continuous shooting mode. I was following it with my finger depressing the button... snap, snap, snap, then boom!! This was the loudest thing I've ever heard.
Canon EOS 400D, with a Canon EF70-200 f4L/USM lens.
Stand Alone
By szabizs
February 5th, 2010
Sadly, the other day I was passing by this tree, with the idea of taking a photo of it with an Autumn feeling, but actually that tree was broken, so it's over for it. Sad, sad news for me.
Canon EOS 40D, 17-40 L.
Sunset Needle v2

Thanks for the feedback from the first version of this photo. This is taken from Capitol Hill in Seattle with the Sun just going down over the Olympic Mountains.
Dawn Departure
November 30th, 2009
This High Dynamic Range (HDR) photo was taken in the early morning hours at Calgary International Airport (YYC). Our flight was going to Toronto. While waiting for the crew to get ready, the sky was giving us a nice show, which reflected in the aircraft's body.
Canon 40D with 17-85mm lens. HDR in Photomatix, minor level and saturation applied in Adobe Photoshop.
The Old Furka Pass
By Dominic Kamp
August 4th, 2010
The Furka Pass (elevation 2436 meters) is a high mountain pass in the Swiss Alps which I crossed over on my way home from Zermatt to Zurich. As I found out later, this pass has been the location for a chasing scene in James Bond - Goldfinger!
This image is a panoramic photo, stitched from 12 single frames using the program "Kolor Autopano". The sky has been replaced to make it look more dramatic and I used Nik Color Efex 3.0 to add some atmospheric warmth. Furthermore, I did some heavy repairing in Photoshop to get rid of the central roads, wires and other distracting elements. Finally, I added low opacity vignetting to focus the view to the center.

At The Park
By Chris Gin
April 8th, 2009
I took this while waiting for the Sun to set behind me. The sunset turned out to be pretty average, but I quite like the lighting in this. I used HDR to bring out the tones.
Hope Valley
By waveydavey
July 5th, 2010
I took this shot from the point known locally as "The Surprise" looking out over Hope Valley in Derbyshire.
The village of Hathersage is visible in the bottom of the valley.Nikon D90, Nikkor 18-105mm VR, Photomatix Pro 2.3, Adobe Photoshop CS5.
Horsehead Nebula
By chriscologne
April 15th, 2009
I used a public domain NASA image of the Horsehead nebula, removed the noise and errors and optimized the color range and saturation.
