I had to splice 7 images together to get this full view. Final size was over 8000 x 5500 pixels. What a scene it was.

The inspiration behind this desktop is, as you might guess, the new space initiative to take the United States back to the Moon and eventually to Mars.

While shopping in Pienza along a walkway crammed with shops packed to the gills with local products - from cheese to ceramics to olive oil to meats and, of course, wine - I was able to snap this shot in a meat store. And in keeping with the Italian way of life, how could a selection of meats not include a fine assortment of local wines?

I was in my contemplative mode when I thought about how Apple changed the way that people thought of ordinary objects by making them seem special and important enough to be worth designing with care. I decided to test out that claim by taking something as ordinary as a 5 of clubs and making a desktop out of that one object.
