Sunset at Storebaelt

Catching the last rays of sun above Storebælt - strait running between the two largest islands in Denmark.
The suspension bridge (The Great Belt Bridge), which has one of the longest mainspans in the world, meets a massive offshore wind farm and a huge container ship right in the line of fire, yet all these man-made constructions come out tiny in comparison with the greatness of nature.

The Helix Nebula's Iridescent Glory
February 11th, 2016
Planetary nebulae like the Helix are sculpted late in a Sun-like star's life by a torrential gush of gases escaping from the dying star. They have nothing to do with planet formation, but got their name because they look like planetary disks when viewed through a small telescope. With higher magnification, the classic "donut-hole" in the middle of a planetary nebula can be resolved. Based on the nebula's distance of 650 light-years, its angular size corresponds to a huge ring with a diameter of nearly 3 light-years. That's approximately three-quarters of the distance between our Sun and the nearest star.
The Helix Nebula is a popular target of amateur astronomers and can be seen with binoculars as a ghostly, greenish cloud in the constellation Aquarius. Larger amateur telescopes can resolve the ring-shaped nebula, but only the largest ground-based telescopes can resolve the radial streaks. After careful analysis, astronomers concluded the nebula really isn't a bubble, but is a cylinder that happens to be pointed toward Earth.

Victoria's View
May 7th, 2017
View from Victoria Peak onto Hong Kong, Kowloon and the surrounding areas.
Taken with Canon EOS 5DS R and the Zeiss Milvus 18mm lens, the sharpness and the level of detail are absolutely insane. You will need some time to practice because there is no autofocus on those lenses but its so much fun (and results are so insane) once you got used to it.
Hong Kong, April 2017.
Canon EOS 5Ds R, Carl Zeiss Milvus 18mm f/2.8
Capture One Pro 10.
Photo Settings: 18mm, f/4, 1/800 second, ISO 100.
Wings of Angels - Northern Lights on Iceland
By Dominic Kamp
January 22nd, 2018
I'm currently on Iceland and was quite disappointed the last time when I travelled here (drone crash, bad weather and almost no northern lights).
This time however, my return to Iceland was awarded with the most powerful northern lights I've ever seen!
