This distinctive rock formation is part of the geologically fascinating coastline. Cathedral Rocks has lured sightseers since 1890. These volcanic rocks, while intensely hard, have many joints. These joints have been eroded for many years, leaving these mysterious rock formations.

The lighthouse sits on an island. The bridge to the island was recently torn down and the old foundation for the bridge is in the foreground.

Taken in January 2013 at Sunset Bay in Coos Bay Oregon, USA. I had to hike out at low tide and set up on the rocks. Waited for the Sun to drop to the crevice created by two rock formations.

I had intended to visit Jack Block Park to get a photo of the city peaking out of the fog in the distance. By the time I got there, the fog had consumed the whole area. I did fine with this beautiful, eerie pier, though.
