Sahara

Fairly simple but makes for a really nice wallpaper. Created in Vue 8 Infinite, thanks...

I can see myself using this wallpaper on my laptop when making client presentations - it's nice and clean and 'neutral' in content. I love the smooth tones, despite red being an 'active' color it's a relaxing image.

Not a bad picture, but I am perplex about the dominant color

The Sun is perfectly done - not too severe, and it blends in great with the landscape. Here in the northern U.S., this is exactly what I need to warm up. Nice one!

Jeez, Yorkie, tell us what you *really* think.

Is no one else seeing the distinct gradient in the sky area?

about 14 years, 1 month ago
As bmndibb6 mentioned there is a lot of banding in the sky. Other then that, I really like this shot.

I agree with TheReal7, Other then the banding ( gradients are a pain to get to look good ) I like the image. Thanks for sharing.

The "banding" is colour depth based, you need to be 32 bit colour otherwise it shows like this.

Already 32 bit, thanks..

Never was a fan of these artificially created images in Vue but this one is a keeper! Excellent.

Downloaded and on my desktop. Thanks!

the banding does not bother me much, it was the saturation i was worried about, but changed my mind once i set it as my wallpaper!
And like Firefly said, the sun is perfect. Very nice work.

Mohler: Fortunately the banding is easy to fix in Photoshop.
Use the lasso tool to select the whole sky except the sun. Run Filter->Refine Edge with a 20px Feathering. Now that the selection has been feathered, do a 20px Gaussian blur and you're done.

Oh and: this is your best wallpaper so far. I'd use more variation in the lighting, cause it's almost painfully flat red, perhaps more black shadows, but it's great. The atmosphere rocks.

Thanks I'll try it..

Another way to lessen the banding (along with the blur tip) is to add a little noise. Plus it ads to the photorealism.

I really like this image but it has its issues. I altered it to suit my tastes: http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/1263/02164sahara2560x1600.jpg

That's great. I like the alien, surreal feel of it. I'll be looking forward to your future works.

This is a very beautiful image! Is there any chance I could use this for a website I am designing?
